Banks

HSBC

25 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3JJ, UK – 0345 740 4404

The branch manager is a top man! Always active and polite, ready to help everyone!

I had no problems with the stuff, they all were very nice and helping. The only inconvenience is the time that it took to open my account, which could be because I tried to open it online (probably a mistake).

Building Societies

The Chelsea Building Co

168 Earls Ct Rd, Earls Court, London SW5 9QQ, UK – 020 7259 2247

Have used this company several times and can highly recommend. David and his team were a delight to have around! Mess was kept to a minimum, turned up on time and didn’t land me with extra hidden costs. They even didn’t seem to mind too much when I changed my mind numerous times on things and were very accommodating. Would definitely use them again.

I used Chelsea Building because they were competitive and professional pitching for the business and I was not disapointed. They completed painting the outside of the house and remedial building work on time and to a very high specification.Their workfroce were a pleasure to have on site and they always left the site clean.I would definitely ask them to pitch again for any further building and/or decorating work that I have going forward

Nationwide

146 Uxbridge Rd, Shepherd's Bush, London W12 8AT, UK – 0800 554 0296

I've moved from this branch. Although conveniently located on the north side of Shepherds Bush Green it has an annoying double entry door that doesn't always work very efficiently and it is easy to collide with people even though you're not supposed to be able to. Watch out if you're struggling with a wet umbrella. Why do these places hardly ever have a bucket to deposit them in. Can get super busy in here with a queue that never seems to move. You can also wait a long time to speak to an advisor.

Great customer service. Very friendly staff. Barely any queuing

Local Chambers of Commerce for W2 1UH. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Dental Surgeries

Harley Street Dentist

66 Harley St, Marylebone, London W1G 7HD, UK – 020 7636 3727

Very good dentist. I would recommend to everyone. Dr Maurer is amazing professional with amazing skills. Keep the good work.

This is a BEAUTIFUL dental surgery in Harley Street. The dentist truly is amazing!!! He is gentle and takes his time when explaining things to you, he doesn't watch the clock and will not let you leave until you have the biggest smile on your face. I asked for a few business cards because this place really is a hidden gem. The staff are so lovely and you will feel as if you have known these guys for years! I have gone from hiding my smile to showing it off at every opportunity.

NW1 Dental Care

92 Camden Rd, London NW1 9EA, UK – 020 7485 4626

I came to NW1 Dental Care after having a not so great experience at another practice. Dr. Anima's kind nature and acute attention to detail ensured that my six months smile was a success. I am very happy with the result so far. Furthermore, all the staff are lovely and provide a first class service! Thank you!!

Anima has been so motivated to ensure my teeth were straightened, she explored many avenues and I am thrilled with the results. She has a calming, professional personality and doesn't give up until the customer is happy with the results. I would recommend her to everybody for cosmetic dentistry! I can' thank her enough!

The Harley Street Smile Clinic - Cosmetic Dentistry

128 Harley St, Marylebone, London W1G 7JT, UK – 020 7486 6777

Finished my veneer treatment, honestly cant thank Maurice and his team enough. All extremely welcoming and professional from start to finish. The procedure is totally pain free and provides amazing results! If you're even considering it, just go for a consultation, what have you to lose.... would recommend The Harley Street Smile Clinic to anyone! I can't stop smiling :)

I was thinking about veneers for a few years as my teeth enamel was quite damaged since childhood. I knew that I had to have a lot of work done so the expected pain and cost has been putting me off. I visited Smile Clinic by chance as I was in London and after friendly and informative chat with Jill , consultation with Dr Maurice and reading reviews I felt totally reassured that I was in the right place. What can I say- within 3 weeks it was all sorted- superb service! Dr Maurice was truly professional and caring- he talked me through the procedures and the 16 (!) injections and all the 2 hour + prep work felt (nearly! ) painless. The mild sensitivity has settled within a week, now they feel totally normal and I am still getting used to hearing comments about my amazingly straight and beautiful teeth. If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry- this is the place to go - highly recommend!

The Bush Doctors

147 Shepherd's Bush Green, London W12 8PP, UK – 020 8749 1882

Well, the receptionists are not quite friendly and a bit miserable (i work at a reception so i know), i can only count 1 who is really lovely. First time there, i had to wait 1h after my appointment time to be seen, i know there is always a waiting time but i've never had to wait that long. The doctor did her job, however rushed me because she was running late and i understand it happens but i told her i have the right to get an appropriate appointment and not be rushed. 2nd time there it was just for a blood test and i also had to wait 40-50min which is surprising since taking blood doesn't take that long. I'm only going there because it's close by but not sure if i can recommend it. I'll book another appointment with another doctor and see how it goes. If you don't want to wait i'll recommend booking early morning appointments.

Quick registration with friendly reception staff. Dr Pamini Ledchumykanthan was lovely and very helpful.

The Bush Doctors Surgery

Knightsbridge Doctors

15 Basil Mansions, Basil St, Knightsbridge, London SW3 1AP, UK – 020 7589 8965

Absolutely fantastic. Every person I saw/spoke to was friendly, courteous and professional. Efficient throughout my whole experience. From checking in, to the physical, the xrays and vaccinations. Pleasant atmosphere and waiting area, including water jugs and cups, which I thought was a nice touch.

I got the train down (Well a couple of trains) fairly early in the morning. My appointment was just before 2pm, but being unfamiliar with London and being much more familiar with the inconsistency of our train service I planned to arrive in at around 12pm, giving myself a bit of time for train delays, wandering around, getting lost, grabbing lunch and still making it there in plenty of time. Arriving in St Pancras station, I headed to the information point. I'd already looked up the distance to the Doctors from the station, so I knew it was within walking distance as well as being very accessible my bus, tube and taxi. Really, it's easy. I walked there. It took around 30-40 minutes, but not being used to the city, it was pretty enjoyable walking through London. This might sound a bit daunting and I thought it might be, however the walk is almost confined to one road, and there are clear street maps of your surrounding area on almost every lamp post along the way. You'd have to be trying really really hard to get lost here! Glad to say I had time for a Costa and some lunch before my medical. (There are food stores/restaurants/bars on every corner so don't worry about having to hunt for something, you'll be spoiled for choice). Having found the road easily enough, I had a little bit of confusion over the address. Just note it's '4 Bentinck Mansions' not '4 Bentinck Steet'! You'll find the Mansion on the other side of the road a little bit further along from '4 Bentinck Steet'. Ring the buzzer and the Doctors is just on the right, obviously signposted. Going in to the Doctors is a small reception area, with an office to your right. When I arrived (20 minutes early, not necessary!) the receptionists took my documents. (Triple check you have all of these). She did a bit of filing and scanning, then handed me a clipboard with a medical questionnaire (Slightly different from the one you are required to bring and fill out). They then pointed me to a comfy waiting room where I filled this out and waited a little while. I did have some questions about the form I was left to fill in, so I asked at reception and they were very kind and helpful. I was called out on time, and was shown to a room where a lady went over my vaccination records with me. I required one to be updated, and she explained my options. I recommend being aware of what you do need prior to going and finding out if it is available at your GP for free. They can do them at the medical for you but for quite a cost, whereas a lot of GP practices will do them for you under NHS. Just good for saving a bit of money! Having gone through the vaccination checklist I was sent next door for my chest x ray. The lady doing it was very kind and made this process very quick and easy. If you haven't had an x ray before, don't worry about it. Absolutely zero feeling or pain. You just stand in front of a machine, chat a bit, have your photo taken while standing in a weird position as told and then you're done! That bit over. I was sent back to the waiting room at this point, before being called a couple of minutes later again to see another doctor. Again, going in to her office it all started off with just chatting, being made comfortable, asking about my partner casually and answering some very simple questions about my medical history. I was made to sign a couple of things and asked if there was any part of the medical I was worried about. The last time I had blood tests I passed out so I explained I was nervous and the doctor reassured me and said we could do them lying down, even giving me the option to get it out the way first. My height and weight were taken and a general physical was done, nothing intrusive or uncomfortable. Very little blood is taken, to the point where I didn't even realise it had been until she told me! To conclude my experience of Knightsbridge Doctors was made very comfortable by the staff who were kind and understanding - to anyone going in the future, don't worry, it's likely to be a lot better than you think!

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

The Wellington Hospital, South

Wellington Hospital South Bldg, 8A Wellington Pl, London NW8 9LE, UK – 020 7586 5959

One of best hospitals spread across either side of lord's cricket grounds

I am surprised at all of the negative reviews. All of my nurses were lovely and competent. Most of my appointments have run late, but that's par for the course at every hospital/GP office I've ever been to in the UK and the US. The food was good. The place was very clean. My room was nice. My surgeon was great. The receptionists are helpful. (Oh, and yes, there are Arabic papers in the waiting room, but there are far more English ones. Like, come on.)

University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street

16-18 Westmoreland St, Marylebone, London W1G 8PH, UK – 020 3456 7898

Staff seem very more focused on getting the paperwork done rather than taking taking a moment to acknowledge people. Very target driven particularly in comparison to some other London hospitals that I have been to. A little customer service related training would go a long way! The food in the canteen was... (I’ll put it down to Hospital aliment) not worth the money. Parking is limited and dang expensive (street parking only) rather commute if you are able to.

I've just been reading these negative reviews and had to check to see if it was the right hospital..omg..what a miserable bunch of ppl. Everyone who I've come into contact with have always been very friendly, proffesional, and polite.

Royal Brompton Hospital

Sydney St, Chelsea, London SW3 6NP, UK – 020 7352 8121

We have been advised to perform TAVI operation in royal Brampton hospital for my 83 years mother in law and all went well for surgery but she had a terrible complication postoperative in form of massive cerebral stroke and that’s it was mentioned as 3% complications rate ,, I can’t blame the hospital or myself or the cardiologist but all what I can say to anyone doing Suergery is to think twice before going into such a terrible experience, for doctors it’s complication but for patient it’s his life ,,,,sad story and terrible experience

It's one of the best hospital in London. However there is patient parking in the hospital. There is near by parking which costs £5/ hour

Had the opportunity to sing here for a carol service for three years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was there recently, enjoyed the beautiful architecture and was fascinated with the whole history of the place and it's connection to Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Worth a read.

Min Jiang Restaurant

2-24 Kensington High St, Kensington, London W8 4PT, UK – 020 7361 1988

There was nothing we did not like. Everything was delicious. Lots and lots of dim sum: our favourites the chicken one and the crab meat with soup. The duck is supposed to be one of the best to have in London (it was not crispy enough for me) and you need to order it when you book the table otherwise it takes 1 hour to arrive to the table. Another dish to highlight were the aubergine with mince chicken, it was absolutely delicious. Service was correct and we got lots of recommendations from our waitress. We will be back as soon as we can

Beautiful view of Hyde Park, one of the best Beijing duck in London, highly recommend the duck soup as second serving. But unfortunately the waitress service was bad. Two of them were extremely unhappy and showed cold face to us the whole time. When they served us, we said thank you to them, they don't even look at you. Other than that, it's a nice restaurant.

Da Paolo Restaurant

3 Charlotte Pl, Fitzrovia, London W1T 1SD, UK – 020 7580 0021

The atmosphere is great, the staff is very friendly and nice. However, the food was quite average: it was good but not enough to say fantastic. The wine and spirit list is rather pricey.

Cannot be faulted. Great service & great food

Public & Preparatory Schools

St James Junior School

Earsby St, London W14 8SH, UK – 020 7348 1777

My son is attending St James and he is enjoying to go to school. It is very welcoming school. Small classes, well behaved children, but still with freedom to be children. Teachers are skilled and supportive. Children are engaged to participate to school's activities from very beginning. By the end of the first semester your boy or girl will happily recite Shakespear's poems and sing on Latin and Sanskrit (completely willingly with smile and happiness). Parents are friendly. Competitive credo is swapped for learning and understanding. As a parent of child who is attending St James I can't say nothing but best for this school so far. He was shy boy and now he is growing into an confident, kind, very well educated and behaved young man. Regarding things from the past, I don't know how someone can judge the school nowadays on its past... (new milenium schools and parents are different and generally schools in the past weren't some pleasant places)

I had the pleasure of running an assembly at the school and found the staff and children to be super friendly and positive. My subsequent dealings with the school have also been terrific. It's a school with a great, positive vibe!
